dayzed and confused

The days rush by faster the older I get. Things also seem to get more complicated.

In winter at least, I can put my glasses in my coat - if I remember. In warm weather, sticking them in my jeans is not a good idea, and I just don't have a pocket for them.
I need them now. I can read a book title, but not the smaller fonts on the pages.

Yes, well, the joys of getting old. People give you a bit more room on the sidewalk, as they're afraid you'll fall onto them. My hearing is bad, which helps to filter out some of the noise pollution. I imagine these minor aches and pains are designed to toughen me up, and are just a prelude to bigger and better aches and pains.

On a lighter note, the church of the sub-genius, which goes back to 1953, is predicting the end of the world on July 5, 2006.

I'm taking a look at the Rexx, language, remembering it from using OS/2.
I seem to be doing a lot of jumping between languages, and justify this to myself, with the goal of compiling one of my own - someday - down the road - just over that hill in the distance.
I'm narrowing down the choices though. I like Just Basic and Ibasic.
Note that I stick with freeware, and there are deep and dark reasons for that.
I've let go of Pawn and Gentee, just yesterday.
Autorun is another language I'm much impressed with.
Leopard is dumbed down to the point of uselessness.
There are many others I've taken a look at. I don't want to invest the time in learning a complicated new language such as C++. Or Prolog, or even Pascal.
The ideal language I'm looking for doesn't exist.
